Maybe the person has already passed, or the farewell lies ahead \u2013 but already nothing feels the same. Grief wears many faces: emptiness, anger, guilt, disorientation \u2013 as unique as we are.<\/p>\n<p>Many people experience thoughts or feelings like these in times of grief:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cI\u2019m functioning \u2013 but inside, I feel numb.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The world keeps turning, but mine has stopped.<\/li>\n<li>I feel anger, guilt, or relief \u2013 and wonder if that\u2019s okay.<\/li>\n<li>People around me expect things to get better by now.<\/li>\n<li>I don\u2019t know how to face the imminent death of someone I love.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m afraid of the goodbye \u2013 and at the same time feel the need to be strong.<\/li>\n<li>Grief comes in waves \u2013 often when I least expect it.<\/li>\n<li>Memories flood me \u2013 or I feel like I can\u2019t feel anything at all.<\/li>\n<li>I wonder how life can \u201cgo on\u201d \u2013 or if that\u2019s even possible.<\/li>\n<li>I long for someone who is just there \u2013 without platitudes or expectations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In systemic therapy, grief is allowed \u2013 just as it is. We create space for what wants to be said \u2013 or remain silent.
